Library

For me graduating from university was as much a loss as it was an accomplishment. Because my undergraduate experience was so rewarding, I left with a somewhat idealized sense of university: that these were places long and slow, places that held the collective accomplishments and cultural memories of our world. I liked the idea of the permanence of the library wall over and against the vibrant but fleeting presence of the bird; I thought it both described my sentiments and honoured my experiences.
I couldn't do this painting now, whether it's me or the university something has changed.
